Bringing It Back
What is the Orange and Black Ball (OBB)?
From the 1920s to the 1960s, two of Princeton's major publications--the Daily Princetonian and TigerMag--used to co-host a ball on the weekend of Princeton's annual homecoming football game against either Harvard or Yale. The ball was a pivotal event on the University social calendar, an occasion that drew the entire student body and their invited guests (Princeton was not yet co-ed). Due to budgetary constrains and other issues, the ball was discontinued in the sixties. Last year, we put an innovative twist on this Princeton tradition and officially brought it back. With over 3,000 classily dressed guests in attendance, it was definitely a success. This year, we're planning on blowing this ball out of the park once again.
When is the OBB?
The OBB will take place on October 19, 2012 at 11PM - the Friday of Homecoming weekend!
Where is it?
In order to accomodate as much of the Princeton community as possible, we will be holding the Orange and Black Ball in Dillon Gym--its historic location. Whether or not you recognize it after we decorate is another question...
Who's involved?
Class Government officers have spearheaded the organization of this event and from its early planning stages, the Princeton community has shown a great deal of support. From West College to Nassau Hall, from the Alcohol Initiative to the Office of Student Life, from on-campus groups to individual students, this planning process has seen an outpouring of support from all over campus.
